Pay Attention! Chuck Grassley's Town Hall --Not So Friendly

This is Senator Chuck Grassley and he is at an informal town hall in a small corner in Iowa.  Chuck, like all the other GOP representatives, does not have town halls often and he has really slowed it down since DJT went into office.   Chuck is on the intelligent committee and he has been protecting GOP and trying to defang the investigation.  Dianne Feinstein who has always worked well with Grassley has been reported barely able to even talk to him.   She is disgusted.    And you saw her release a The Fusion testimony.

While Chuck has been hiding from Iowans,  Iowans have been watching --everything.    So on Friday January 12, a couple days after Feinstein released the testimony, Chuck went to a super warm and cozy spot in Iowa for his little town hall.  A place where he figured he wouldn't get much blow back.   And what happened?

People were pissed.  They were polite but they were pissed. This is not Indivisble activists this is just regular Iowans--

Take a look and you will see that people are paying attention.

There is a tide.

Let's Go In Tight On One Of These Races: Pennsylvania District 18

This district was held by  GOP Tim Murphy, who had to resign in disgrace over an affair with a staffer.

It is a gerrymandered district in Pittsburgh and Murphy had been able to run unopposed in some elections.  His district includes Mt Lebanon, Conor Lamb, a 33yr old Democrat who grew up in Mt Lebanon is running for the seat.  He’s 33 yrs old and has a resume that should appeal to voters in the district.

A Republican PAC just committed $1.5 million to defeat him.

They’ve already started the “He’s just another of Nancy Pelosi’s stooges.” The same tired playback. 

I donated to his campaign this week.

Special Elections From Now Until June

Do you know there are over 30 local special elections between now and June?

These are state elections which are CRITICAL to our future.   Remember state houses draft the districts for congress and we must must flip districts blue to push back on all the gerrymandering.  Plus we need to flip state houses to flip states.

Here's the facts in many of these districts the answer is simply getting out the youth vote and the non white vote.   While at the same time engaging registered Dems many who are white  who may have skipped voting in the last few cycles.

The key is solid candidates.
And all of us helping in some way those candidates flip their district.


We did it this fall.  We can do it again.  Donate. Write Post Cards.   Engage your friends.

Do you have friends or family in any of these districts?   Email them and ask them where they stand on the Dem Candidate.   Can you write post cards for the candidate?  Can you donate?  Can you phone bank?  Can you fly out and help the campaign?

Happy New Year! And Yes We are Paying Attention

Hello Friends,

Happy New Year.  The first month of 2018 is about to wrap and we can see it will be the same old s-show experience with Trump in charge.    The difference from last year is that The Resistance is growing stronger every day.   I hear more and more people digging in, they either call me or they tell me in person new things they are doing and people who have not done much more than yell about Trump on FB have asked for a task. Wow.     I went to the Women's  March in Los Angeles and saw a crowd as large as last year-- 600,000 people and it was not just women and not just white middle agers. It was young old black brown asian men women trans --everyone.   We are strong and we will fight injustice and we will engage.   I will keep you updated.   See following posts as we launch this year together.

2018---you are next!

 Virginia’s most socially conservative state lawmaker was ousted from office by Danica Roem, who will be one of the nation’s first openly transgender elected officials.

- Andrea Jenkins became the first black transgender woman elected to public office when she won a seat on the Minneapolis City Council with over 70% of the vote.

- Melvin Carter III was elected St. Paul's first mayor of color.

- Jenny Durkan will be the first lesbian mayor of Seattle, and Zachary DeWolf became Seattle's first openly gay school board member.

- Democrat Vi Lyles will become Charlotte, NC's first African American female mayor.

- Hoboken voters chose Ravinder Bhalla, who became the first Sikh mayor to be elected in the state of New Jersey.

- In Manchester, N.H., Joyce Craig became the first woman to win the mayor's office.

- Michelle Kaufusi became the first woman elected mayor in the 157-year history of Provo, the third-largest city in Utah.

- Kathy Tran became the first Asian-American woman to be elected to the Virginia House of Delegates.

- Democrat Justin Fairfax won the lieutenant governor's office, becoming only the second African-American to win a statewide post in Virginia since Reconstruction.

- Jerry Shi and Falguni Patel, who were targeted in racist "Make Edison Great Again" mailers that made national headlines both won three-year terms on the Edison, NJ Township Public Schools board.

- Atlantic County, NJ freeholder Mays Landing (man) was defeated by Ashley Bennett (woman), who was inspired to run after Landing mocked the Women's March. 

- Chris Hurst — whose girlfriend was fatally shot during a live broadcast in 2015 — toppled pro-gun Republican incumbent Joseph Yost.

- The republican mayor of St. Petersberg, FL was defeated after aligning himself with Trump and denying climate change.

- Democrats, many of them unknown first-time candidates, are poised to pick up at least 14 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates.

- Maine voted to expand medicare.

- New Jersey and Virginia elected democratic governors.

Puerto Rico. Update As of Saturday Morning Sept 30

Friends---- this is not a drill. This is real.  At this point the only answer is POTUS is insane.  He gets into pissing matches with everyone including the mayor of San Juan--he is not a real leader.  But individually we are leaders.  Each and everyone of us.

I called Operation USA today and spoke to someone in their warehouse.  I asked what is going on with their relief since the infrastructure is a total loss in PR.   Operation USA has a staff on the ground in PR. And they have doctors.   Some doctors in Pheonix have chartered a plane and they are filling it with medical supplies and tablets to clean water along with other necessary goods. They also have access to some Honeywell employees in PR and they know the difficuties with fuel and trucks but they are on it.  Their plane will leave on Thursday.   They are very measured and thoughtful about their relief and are adding to it bit by bit as they get the system down.

These people are smart.  I have been donating to them for over twenty years.  They have a high bar that they reach and in terms of charitable organizations their overhead is super small.   This is not a group that uses big drama to generate money and then goes to FEMA for reimbursement.  That's NOT Operation USA.   You can check on other groups who does that...not pretty.
